 Meningococcal Satellite Media Tour

On Friday, October 19, 2007, NASN President Donna Mazyck and NASN member Carolina Sandoval participated in a Satellite Media Tour in New York City focusing on the importance of meningococcal immunization.  Thirty-six national and regional interviews were conducted in both English and Spanish in top media markets including New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Dallas, Miami, Tampa, Boston and Cleveland.  To date, the NASN Meningococcal national media outreach campaign has reached an estimated audience of 29 million!.  Below are media clips in both English and Spanish from this campaign.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently expanded the meningococcal immunization recommendations
to include all adolescents 11-18 years of age.
The Get S.M.A.R.T. About Meningitis! materials have been updated to reflect these changes.
The campaign is designed to provide strategies and tools to help educate parents and students about meningococcal disease and the importance of prevention.
