A Day In The Life Of A School Nurse - NASN July 23, 2008 Hill Event Declared a Success A full banquet room of Hill staffers joined Representative Lois Capps (D-CA) in participating in NASN's portrayal of "A Day in the Life of a School Nurse." Nurses and students were strategically placed throughout the room with visually interesting displays of the many roles performed by School Nurses. Staffers were engaged in educative conversations with the nurses and children and were addressed during lunch by Rep. Capps (a former School Nurse), the Legislative Director for Representative Steve LaTourette (R-OH), and NASN Board President, Donna Mazyck. Also in attendance was an avid School Nurse "Digest" reader from Oregon, Nina Feraris, who happened to be in D.C.! Promotion of the Ratio Bill (H.R. 6201) was featured in the event remarks and materials; and the primary sponsor, Representative Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY), issued a "Dear Colleague" letter discussing the bill to coincide with the event.
