Purpose
To publicly recognize school nurse administrators nationwide by annually honoring one School Nurse Administrator of the Year from each affiliate.

NASN Affiliate School Nurse Organizations
Eligibility
1. One (1) nominee from each NASN Affiliate
2. Nominees may not be an officer or director on the NASN board.
3. Nominee must be:
a. Registered professional nurse
b. Bachelor degree of nursing or higher
c. Member of NASN for the current and preceding five years.
Affiliate Requirements
1. Submit summary of honoree’s accomplishments. Summary may not exceed 300 words.
2. Submit digital photograph of honoree at least 300 dpi/inch.
Suggested Guidelines for Affiliate School Nurse Administrator of the Year
1. Nominee should have completed five years experience in school health, and currently practice full-time and have as their main responsibility the supervision, administration, and coordination of nursing service and health programs
2. Evidence of excellence in school nursing administration should be based on ANA Scope and Standards for Nurse Administrators.
How to Submit an Application
All applications must be submitted online. No other mode of application will be accepted.
Nominations must be submitted by the NASN Director of the affiliate organization.

History
Over the years, many inspiring stories from stellar candidates have been submitted for the National School Nurse Administrator of the Year award. After careful study by a president-appointed task force, the Board of Directors approved in June 2009, that NASN recognize "Excellence in School Nursing" annually by honoring one School Nurse Administrator of the Year from each affiliate. The NASN Board of Directors will work with staff to determine how to recognize the affiliate nominees nationally at the NASN Annual Conference.
