This SIG includes school nurses with a mutual interest in special needs practice. School nurses interested in this area often feel isolated in the educational and health care systems. There is an increased focus on special needs law, health care technology, delegation, supervision, evidence based practice, psycho-social issues, and diagnoses. To provide a vehicle for communication, support, education, networking, and research, the Special Needs School Nurse Special Interest Group (SNSN SIG) formed officially in February, 2010.
After informal meetings at NASN annual conferences since 2006, the first official meeting of the group took place at the NASN conference in Chicago, on June 29 from 6-7:30.
To become a member of this SIG, simply check the appropriate box on the NASN membership application or contact NASN to update your record.
