Debi, you can withdraw to the next text window but there will be a fee.  See the website at http://nbcsn.org/examination#Centers.

I imagine that you will fall within the 29-5 days prior to the date of your exam or the end of the testing window. You would need to withdraw from the exam and then reapply when the application window opens in early August.

    Withdrawal from Exam

    1. If it is 30 days or more prior to your scheduled appointment or end of the testing window, you may withdraw your test appointment for a $75 fee. To do so, you must complete two steps:
      1. Contact Prometric and cancel your original appointment.
      2. Withdraw your application by logging into your NBCSN account and completing the withdrawal request. $75 of your exam fee is non-refundable.
    2. If you are between 29 and 5 days prior to the end of the testing window or test date you may withdraw from the exam for a $125 fee. You must complete two steps:
      1. Contact Prometric and cancel your original appointment. A fee of $50 will be charged.
      2. Withdraw your application by logging into your NBCSN account and completing the withdrawal request. $75 of your exam fee is non-refundable. Note steps a and b equal the total of $125.00
    3. If you are 5 days or less prior to end of your testing window or test date, you are unable to withdraw. You must appear and sit for the exam or all fees will be forfeited.

Late for Testing Appointment / No Show

The entire testing fee is forfeited for candidates who are more than 15 minutes late for a test appointment or who fail to appear for an appointment.

Note that the first thing you must do is to contact Prometric.

    Thanks Pat,
I contacted Prometric and cancelled my appointment.  I also sent in my request to NBCSN.  My one question is will I have to send in all that paperwork again?  Or does NBCSN keep my file open and for how long? Although cancelling the appointment is expensive, I am simply not ready to take this exam.  As  you know I've been a school nurse for over 3 decades I've always worked in Pre-k to 8th grade and in small schools in small towns.  I just don't see the range of cases my colleagues in larger towns and cities do.  I'm planning to address the situation somehow this summer.

Debi, I am sorry, at this point I don't have a good answer for you. We are just doing the final transition to the new management company today.  Did you send electronic or paper copies with your application?  If you can get in touch with me after August 1, I will be able to get into the new system and check if your info is still there.
