Hi everyone! I took the exam yesterday and passed. So relieved -the test wasn't fun and I felt like I certainly failed it. I wanted to share what I did to prepare for the test in case it helps others. I've been a school nurse now since 2018. I started immediately after graduating nursing school. I am the only nurse for a small district covering a preschool, 3 elementary schools, a middle school and community day school. I have a total of about 1600 students (not counting the preschool). In February at the CSNO conference, I took Janice Selekman's NCSN Review Course. I didn't look at anything again until this summer. I bought the two practice tests, took the first right away to get an idea of what I needed to focus on. I then used ChatGPT to help me study and even took some of chatty's suggestions and created podcasts using Gemini Notebook. Those were amazing!! I focused on immunization timing, vision issues and behavioral theories. I reviewed these resources as well Nurse Builders E-Course Academy, Study Guide... poke around on the NBCSN website -they give lots of great resources.
Anyways, while I was taking the test I felt like all my preparation wasn't working. There were some oddly specific questions about various conditions that no one could prepare for. Also, some of the questions were worded odd and I had to read them over and over. Maybe those were the unscorable questions, who knows. Just keep pushing forward, don't give up, take your best shot and do it! When I saw the "passed" at the end I felt so good!
