National Association of School Nurses Urges All School Staff and Eligible Students to be Vaccinated against COVID-19

August 26, 2021, Silver Spring, Maryland—Following the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) full approval of one of the COVID-19 vaccines, the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) urges all school staff and eligible students be vaccinated.

“As we enter the third school year affected by COVID-19—and following the FDA’s full approval of one COVID-19 vaccine—NASN strongly urges all educators, school staff and eligible students to be fully vaccinated,” said Linda Mendonca, NASN President. “Vaccination is the leading public health strategy to end the COVID-19 pandemic.”

As stated in the NASN position statement on immunizations, inclusive of the COVID-19 vaccination, “It is the position of the National Association of School Nurses that immunizations are essential to primary prevention of disease from infancy through adulthood.”

Wonderful to hear that NASN has made this statement.
The vaccine for Covid 19 availability and recommendation is not political.
I am proud to be a school nurse and a member of the National Association.
thank you,
