Webinar: Focus on Fall: Respiratory Illness Vaccines to Support Student and Staff Wellness

Program Overview
This webinar will provide an overview of the two Fall respiratory vaccines, Influenza and COVID-19, and a brief overview of the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccine. The importance of vaccination for students, staff, and coadministration, and confidence in these vaccines will be discussed. Best practice strategies school nurses may use to encourage vaccine uptake in the school community, including school located vaccine clinics and NASN resources will be shared.

Learning Outcomes

As a result of participating in this educational activity, learners will be able to:

  • Identify the two CDC and AAP recommended vaccines targeting respiratory illness –Influenza and COVID-19, brief overview of RSV.
  • State the transmission and risk for Influenza and COVID-19 in the school population.
  • Describe current recommended dosing schedules, age eligibility, and contraindications to vaccination.
  • Demonstrate the leadership role of the school nurse in evidence-based approaches to vaccine conversations with parents and caregivers to increase uptake.
  • State the care coordination role of the school nurse when utilizing NASN and related respiratory resources in the school health office.
