Good morning,
My name is Laura Karges and I was fortunate enough to be able to virtually attend the inaugural meeting of the DEI SIG. I shared that I was finishing my EdD and would like to explore applying equity practices in health offices. I got some really great ideas! Thank you!!
I wanted to update you and let you know that I followed through and will be completing my proposal for the institution this semester and providing professional development to the school nurses in my district next semester (spring 2026). I hope to get my proposal in to NASN by the October 10th deadline so I can either present or have a poster presentation at the in person and virtual conference next summer.
My scholarly project is titled The School Nurse as Equity Practitioner: Applying Equity Principles in School Health Services. I will be conducting a pre/post test and following up in a month to see how the school nurses feel about incorporating the content into their practice. I've gotten some really great information and am looking forward to sharing it with everyone!
I'm hoping this will make a positive impact on the professional development regarding DEI.
