What are the learning outcomes?
As a result of participating in this educational activity, learners will be able to
- Identify three emerging student health trends that impact your student population and a resource that can be used to learn more on those topics.
- Articulate three new evidence-based practices learned at conference that will be used to promote student health, social and academic success, or healthy communities.
- Identify three potential new partners/partnerships to collaborate with to advance student health and the role of the school nurse as a health leader in the school setting.
- Distinguish two ways current practice of care, data collection, or policy development differs from the information presented at conference and develop a plan to change at least one practice.
- Apply one new concept regarding advocacy and data that can be used to articulate to educators and decision-makers about the role of the school nurse in the 21st century.
Are continuing education nursing (CNE) contact hours provided?
National Association of School Nurses is accredited with distinction as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
National Association of School Nurses is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing: Provider No. CEP 12292.
According to the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation guidelines, 60 minutes = 1 contact hour.

- If you miss the sessions when they are presented, you can still view them on your own time for 90 days following the conference.

Will sessions be presented live or are they recorded for viewing at any time?
The 5-day Session Lineup from June 21, 2021 to June 25, 2021 will be presented or streamed live starting each day at 11 AM Eastern and ending between 4:00 - 5:30 PM Eastern each day. Sessions will be recorded and made available to view for 90 days.
The Poster Hall has presentations can be viewed on the attendee's own time. This year, e-posters will be highlighted in the conference schedule on June 21, 2021 from 3:50 – 4:50 PM EST. During the highlighted time, presenters will monitor and respond to messages from attendees in a chat roll that will be located with the presentation on the virtual event site. E-posters will be made available to view for 90 days.
The PLUS sessions can be viewed on the attendee's own time. These are ONLY available to Virtual NASN2021 PLUS registrants and will be made available to view for 90 days.
Will sessions be closed captioned?
For sessions presented live during the 5-day program, closed captioning will be provided.
For sessions that are recorded, which includes all live sessions, the poster presentations, and the PLUS courses, there will be a closed captioning button that can be turned on/off by the attendee.
Will there be an annual meeting?
The annual business meeting will happen on June 24, 2021 at 3:05 PM. NASN hopes all attendees will join to hear association news and participate in association business. Stay online as we honor and celebrate some amazing school nurses by watching the Awards Celebration, an event that applauds those for their achievement and accomplishments through this trying year.
Will there be an exhibit hall?
The exhibit hall will be open to all registered for the conference and anyone who logs into the NASN Learning Center. Although exhibit booths can be viewed at any time, this year, there are scheduled, uncontested hours for you to meet with exhibitors.

Sponsor demonstrations are scheduled on July 1, 2020 at 3:46 PM and July 2, 2020 at 3:50 PM.
The live demonstrations will be recorded and available for 90 days. Additional recorded demonstrations will also be available for 90 days.
Recorded demonstrations will be located in the exhibit hall.
Will there be networking opportunities?

- Virtual Braindates on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Post topics you want to discuss in the Braindate topic market. Schedule one-on-one video chats with other attendees or establish a meeting time to discuss your topic with a small group of attendees.

There is no guest registration option for the virtual experience.

How long will I have access to the Virtual NASN2021 content?
Educational sessions and events scheduled at a specific time in the 5-day schedule will be presented at the times stated. If you miss the session or event when it is presented, you can watch a recording. Recordings will be made available to view for 90 days. NOTE: NASN reserves the right to limit access to recordings based on agreements with speakers. If any recordings are available for less than the full 90 days, attendees will be informed.
The poster presentations can be viewed on your own time. Posters will be made available to view for 90 days.
The PLUS courses can be viewed on your own time. These are ONLY available to Virtual NASN2021 PLUS registrants and will be made available to view for 90 days.
Will I be able to connect with speakers during the Virtual NASN2021?
Speakers who are presenting a session in the 5-day schedule will be available for a live chat during the session. Attendees will be able to ask questions and discuss the presentation throughout the session.
Poster presenters will be available for a live chat on Monday, June 21, 2021 from 3:50-4:50 PM. Each presenter will share a 15 minute video to accompany their poster and attendees will have presenter contact information for follow-up questions.
How do I attend the virtual conference?
The virtual conference platform is built on the NASN Learning Center.
Informational and reminder emails will be sent to attendees. Please be sure that NASN has your preferred email address listed as the primary email address. This is the email NASN will use to communicate to you.
How do I access session handouts?
Abstracts for each session and any materials provided by speakers are available to participants in TWO formats.
- A digital program will be available to all attendees. It will include abstracts, slides and handouts for all sessions in the Virtual NASN2021 program. Materials for PLUS sessions will NOT be in the program but will be made available individually with each PLUS session. NOTE: NASN makes every effort to collect speaker slides and handouts.
- Copies of slides and handouts for each session will be listed as resources within each session in the virtual platform.
How do I obtain my CNE and certificate of completion?
Attendees paying the appropriate registration fee will receive Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) contact hours for the program attended and evaluated within the 90-day allotted window. In order to qualify for CNE contact hours and print off a certificate attendees will need to complete these steps:
- Attendees must stay for the entire program, no partial credit.
- Attendees will complete and pass a post assessment for each session in the program. Upon successful completion of the assessment, attendees will complete a session evaluation.
- Attendees will complete a Virtual NASN2021 overall evaluation as well.
- Assessments and evaluations appear in the Virtual NASN2021 website and are located with each session’s presentation.
Attendees have 90 days to complete evaluations to receive CNE credit for the program. NASN encourages you to evaluate sessions you attended each day while the information is fresh in your mind to provide the most accurate evaluation possible.
Requests for an extension on the 90-day CNE deadline must be submitted in writing, mailed to the NASN office, and include a $60.00 processing fee payment.
Extensions will not be granted for programs hosted or presented more than 12 months prior to the extension request.
Extensions do not apply to viewing content. Extensions only apply to being awarded CNE for content viewed.

How will I receive information and notifications from NASN regarding the virtual conference?
Attendees will receive email reminders prior to the start of each day and at the end of each day. Please be sure that NASN has your preferred email address listed as the primary email address. This is the email NASN will use to communicate to you.
Twitter will be used to remind attendees of event highlights and important resources. All conference tweets will include the hashtag #NASN2021.
After the conference, NASN will use a conference discussion list to share post-event news and reminders. All attendees will be subscribed to the discussion list using the primary email address on file at NASN.

Call for Abstracts Agreement and Conflict of Interest Policy:
Speakers explicitly agreed to the abstract agreement and conflict of interest policy. Please review as needed.
Do speakers and poster presenters need to disclose a conflict of interest or absence of conflict?
The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) guidelines direct NASN to ensure that all educational session content is free of commercial bias and influence. Each educational session must include appropriate language listing disclosures or indicating there are no relationships that require disclosure. The intent of this disclosure is to provide learners with information on which they can make their own judgments. Download the disclosure guidelines and language.
Do speakers receive honoraria?
NASN does not pay honoraria unless special arrangements have been made. It is the speaker's/presenter's responsibility to cover conference-related expenses including lodging, travel, per diem, and registration fees should attendance and/or continuing nursing education contact hours be desired.
Can speakers attend sessions other than the ones they are presenting?
Speakers who pay a fee and register as an attendee for some or all of the conference can attend sessions that are included with their registration.
Do speakers receive continuing education nursing (CNE) contact hours for sessions they present?
Speakers do not receive CNE contact hours for sessions presented.
As of November 2018, The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) has new language regarding presenters claiming CNE contact hours credit for the courses they present. It states:
AWARDING CONTACT HOURS TO PRESENTERS
The ANCC Accreditation does not allow for the presenters to claim contact hours for an activity that they are the speakers/educators. The rationale behind this decision derives from the concept stated in the 2015 ANCC Primary Accreditation Provider Application Manual, on page 31, "Contact hours are awarded to participants for those portions of the educational activity devoted to the learning experience and time spent evaluating the activity" (ANCC, 2015). The presenter cannot evaluate the program in the role of the learner. It is noted that some State Boards of Nursing do allow presenters to claim contact hours for an activity they present. However, that is different from the ANCC accreditation standards which the Provider Unit must maintain.
Can speakers receive any continuing education nursing (CNE) contact hours?
Speakers who pay a fee and register as attendees for some or all of the conference can attend sessions and receive CNE contact hours for sessions other than sessions presented.
Will attendees receive a copy of my session presentation slides and handouts?
Attendees expect to have access to session slides and handouts. In order to fulfill their expectations, speakers will be asked to share presentation slides and handouts [poster presenters will be asked to share a digital copy of their poster]. Slides and handouts received by NASN will be included in the digital program and as resources in the session where it is hosted in the virtual platform.

How will my session be recorded?
All speakers and presenters will be contacted about recording their session. If you have not be contacted, please let Devin Dinkel at NASN know firstname.lastname@example.org.
Will I receive training to guide me with the live Q&A portion of my session?
All speakers with a session that is being streamed to attendees will participate in a live chat during the session. Chat training will be scheduled in late May or early June. NASN will reach out to you with details for this training session.
