Join us as we share information about Primary Immune Deficiency and how it presents the school environment. Students with PID face challenges throughout their life and school can be very overwhelming for a child and their family. School nurses, working collaboratively with the health care team can support and are well positioned to advocate and care for their students.
We will explore the immune system, looking at three specific deficiencies; X linked Agammaglobulinemia (XLA), X linked Chronic Granulomatous Disease (CGD) and Common Variable Immune Deficiency (CVID). We will work to develop a care plan that supports the student academically, emotionally and socially. Utilizing the School Nursing Framework, the Nursing Process and SMART Goals, be ready to care for students with PID and help them reach their full potential.
