Presented by:
Dr. Christine March, Assistant Professor, Pediatric endocrinologist at UPMC
Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Dr. March primarily takes care of children,
adolescents, and young adults with type 1 and 2 diabetes. Much of her work is focused on school-based interventions to support children, families, and school nurses.
In this webinar, Dr. March will review recent innovations in
screening, prevention, and management of type 1 diabetes. She will review the science
behind screening for early-stage type 1 diabetes and new research/treatments to
prevent progression of the disease in asymptomatic children. For children with type 1
diabetes, Dr. March will briefly review new interventions for integrated care between
diabetes centers and schools. Practical considerations for nurses will be discussed,
including the NH DOE toolkit, raising awareness about type 1 diabetes screening, and
providing resources for those interested in learning more.
