Much of the prevention language is in Title II. ~The House Energy and Commerce Committee report (1,222 pages) for America's Affordable Health Choices Act, HR 3200, is now available. The wellness and prevention provisions of Title C are on pages 663 to 874. ~ U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleeen Sebelius, spoke at the Association of State and Territorial Health Organization's annual conference on the importance of prevention in the health reform legislation: Said Sebelius, "Public health is the backbone of this new health system …" Click here to read the Secretary's prepared remarks. posted to the NASN Weekly Digest 10/23/09 Bill Introduced to Train School Nurses on Emergency Responsiveness Representative Steve Israel (D-NY) introduced the School Protection Act of 2009 (H.R. 3798) which would authorize the Secretary of Health and Human Services to award grants or contracts to eligible entities to train school nurses to serve as first responders and crisis managers in the event of a biological or chemical attack, influenza outbreak, etc. that would affect individuals in a school building or on school grounds.
