Our Priorities

Advocating for Every Student's Health and Success

At the National Association of School Nurses (NASN), we believe that every child deserves access to healthcare at school to thrive both academically and personally. Our advocacy priorities focus on ensuring that all schools have full-time registered nurses, sustainable funding for school health services, and policies that promote the well-being of students and school communities.

With over 40% of school-aged children managing chronic or mental health conditions, school nurses play a critical role in improving attendance, reducing health disparities, and supporting student success. School nurses are part of the solution to having safer, healthier schools – yet one-third of public schools nationwide don’t have a full-time RN.

Backed by overwhelming public support—87% of U.S. adults favor school nurses in every school—we are committed to pushing for legislation like the NURSE Act, increasing Medicaid funding, and prioritizing resources for underserved schools.

Join us in advocating for healthier, safer learning environments. Together, we can ensure all children thrive when it comes to their health and academic potential.
