June 12 – 14, 2018
Building on the successes over the last year and a half, fending off cuts to Medicaid in schools and achieving a ten-year reauthorization of the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), the NURSE Act has been re-introduced in both the House and Senate.
The NURSE Act (Nurses for Under Resourced Schools Everywhere Act) S 2532/HR 5251 was introduced on March 12, 2018 by Senator Jon Tester and Representative Dina Titus. The NURSE Act would give grants from the Department of Education to increase the number of registered school nurses in Title I schools where there does not already exist a school nurse.
