Scope and Standards Public Review and Commentary

The National Association of School Nurses (NASN) is in the final phase of the 4th revision of the School Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice.

As part of American Nurses Association’s (ANA) process for revision, the draft document is posted for public review and commentary. We value your participation in this process.

The Scope tells the “story” of school nursing and the Standards are the authoritative statements of nursing practice and professional performance.

You will note that Standard 18: Program Management is no longer included in this revision.  While this standard was uniquely important in the earlier years of the specialty; many of the competencies in this standard are now a common practice within other standards, such as Leadership and Advocacy.  A Migration Chart outlines where the competencies from Program Management are now among the existing competencies.

**Please note: Only feedback received via the Comment Form and by January 10, 2022 at 11:59 pm Eastern will be considered.
