Although the shark navigator lift-away deluxe nv360 upright vacuum is designed with users’ ease in mind, it could run into troubles from time to time. Do not worry, because the right maintenance will protect your machine, and we will show you how to do that in this short guide.

Also, bear in mind that the Shark navigator lift away deluxe NV360  is among most simple models with only the basic parts, so maintenance should be fairly easy.

How to maintain my Shark NV360

The main problem with any vacuum cleaner are dust clogs that obstruct them from working properly. The main solution, therefore, will be to ensure all places are clean and dust-free. Below are some of the parts that are most prone to this issue.

  • Dust cup

This is where the dust is stored, so it is necessary that you empty it immediately after use.

To empty the dust cup, remove it from the motor base by releasing the two latches on the sides. The dust cup has two openings: a top and a bottom one, allowing you to tap into the cup wherever there is most dust.

Hover the cup above a trash bin. With just one press of the release button, you open the bottom door. Gently shake and tap into the cup if needed. Turn it over to open the top door. Again, press the release button and tap gently. Remember to close both doors when you’re done by pressing them shut until you hear a click.

  • Pre-motor filters

The Shark Navigator Lift-Away NV360 comes with two kinds of pre-motor filters: a foam and a felt filter. You can find them both in the motor after you lift the dust cup. These are both removable so you can clean them separately.

To remove dust from the pre-motor filters, soak them in lukewarm water thoroughly. Run water through them until the water is clean-- this means that there is no dust left. You must do so by hand because putting them in a washing machine might rip them. Let dry for 24 hours before putting back in. You should also let them air dry and avoid using a dry blower as this might damage the cloth. When you put them in, remember to put the felt filter first, then the foam filter.

Ideally, these filters should be rinsed every 3 months to make sure extra utility.

  • Post-motor filter

The post-motor filter is also called the hepa filter. HEPA is short for high-efficiency particulate air, used for filtering harmful particles from the air. The filter works by forcing air through a fine mesh that traps allergy-inducing particles such as pollen, pet dander, tobacco smoke, and so on. Hence, keeping it clean helps avoid adverse effects on human health.

To remove the filter, open the filter cover by pulling it away from the motor. Pull the filter straight out. Place it over a dustbin then shake it forcefully to allow the dirt to fall out. Then, rinse the filter in warm water until the water is clear. Similar to the pre-motor filter, you must let it air dry for 24 hours before placing it back in. Do not put it in a dishwasher either because this might damage it. Overall, it should be pretty easy to clean.

For hepa filters, rinsing is recommended once every two years but of course, clean it whenever you feel the need.
