NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL NURSES ANNOUNCES NEW NURSING EDUCATION PROJECT MANAGER AND NURSING EDUCATION AND PRACTICE SPECIALIST
New staff nurses bring their expertise to NASN
Silver Spring, MD (October 3, 2016) – The National Association of School Nurses (NASN) welcomes Susan Hoffmann, MSN, RN, NCSN, as Nursing Education Project Manager and Jade Bland-Slaffey, MSHCA, BSN, RN, as Nursing Education and Practice Specialist.
In her new role, Hoffmann will provide project management for NASN nursing education projects, as well as will lead grant-funded programs and other projects. She began her school nursing career in 1995 in the Caesar Rodney School District in Wyoming, Delaware. She worked with elementary students, including students with mental health needs. From 2011 – 2016, Hoffman was the lead nurse and the lead school nurse mentor for the district. Prior to becoming a school nurse, she worked as a staff nurse in pediatrics and a nursing educator at Bayhealth Medical Center in Dover, Delaware. She has also worked in inpatient psychiatric nursing and as an adjunct faculty member in the nursing department of Wesley College.
In her new role, Bland-Slaffey will be the lead nurse planner responsible for ensuring that NASN’s continuing nurse education programs adhere to American Nurses Credentialing Center criteria for accredited providers. She will also oversee grant-funded programs and the H.A.N.D.S. and SETT programs. She began her career in pediatric healthcare settings. Bland-Slaffey comes with a diverse nursing background with experience in step-down PICU, sexual assault nurse examiner, day hospital, bone marrow transplant, hematology oncology, and community/school health. As a school nurse, she led educational sessions for students, staff, and parents. She has expertise in management of the acute/chronic ill child in the community health setting.
