I have found Dr. Selekman's course to be extremely helpful. She focuses on the key concepts and information most relevant to the exam, making the material much easier to understand and retain.
While the textbook can feel overwhelming at times, it serves as an excellent resource for gaining a deeper understanding and clarification of the topics covered. The quizzes at the end of each chapter are helpful.

I completely understand about the money. I kept going back and forth on purchasing it. I'm glad that I did. For me, it is worth it. I have a limited amount of time to study. I signed up to take the exam July 17 - so that is about 5 weeks away. I'm going to China for 2 weeks and will not be studying much during that time. Having a way to listen to the content - it is time-saving for me. I spend a lot of time in the car. I like I can listen while on a walk or mowing the lawn. Dr. Sekelman helps share what to focus on and what she has heard has been questions on the exam before. I am enjoying it. It's better than just reading a book, imo!
I'll also say - there are plenty of words that are new to me since studying this material! A stadiometer is one! I keep wanting to put "stand"iometer! :P

What I have been doing is using Dr. Selekman's NurseBuilders course alongside the review chapters. I usually listen to each video once while walking, mowing the lawn, or driving. Then I listen to it a second time at my computer and take detailed notes.
If there is a topic I want to understand better, I will do additional research online and look at images or diagrams to reinforce the concepts. After finishing a section, I complete the review questions. I also read the review book and add notes if there is information covered in the book that was not included in the course.
One tool that has been especially helpful is AI. I use it to generate quiz questions on specific topics. For example, I recently asked for quizzes on vision and vision screenings, as well as ear anatomy and hearing screenings. I find that answering questions helps me identify areas where I need additional review.
What has stood out to me so far is the level of detail we are expected to know, particularly regarding various assessment and screening tests that I do not routinely perform in my role as a school nurse. While some of the content feels outside my day-to-day practice, I am finding it interesting to learn more about these topics and how they connect to comprehensive student health assessment.
