I finally took the NBCSN exam after almost 20 years of school nursing and three years after receiving my BSN and I passed! To be honest, I avoided getting my BSN and certification because I thought why? If I can't get a raise like the teachers, then why do it? I should've wanted to do it because it is a standard of care to continue my education and to continuously learn and keep up with changes in programs and school nursing knowledge and care, but I didn't. Since the cap was removed for the stipend for certified school nurses and after all the hard work MSNA and school nurse leaders in MS put into school nurses being treated equally (I know...still not all the way there), I thought, if I don't do it now, how disrespectful it is for me towards those in my profession who worked so hard to make it happen.

So thank you to all of you who worked hard to make sure we were rewarded for proving our knowledge, competency, and skill in school nursing!

Congrats! Can you share more on the cap of the stipend, and what went on there? I'm advocating for nurses in our district to get certification party,  because our teachers get it. Thanks!
