Ok just finished taking the Exam prep-Test taking, anxiety review course. Can anyone help me with Identifying opposites? I'm not sure I understand what she means without an example.

    Thanks so much.

So, I can not tell if any one has answered you, so I will try. From what I understand is if there are two answers that are exactly the same answer except for one thing makes them opposite the The correct answer will be one of the two. So it helps to illuminate two of the four possibilities. Then you will have a 50-50 chance of getting the right answer. An example would be right versus left, increase versus decrease. Does that help?

Let’s say you are asked the best place to tale a blood pressure and two of your choices are
    The upper right arm or
    The upper left arm or
    The left wrist or
    The right forearm

The correct answer is one of the opposites, in this case the left upper arm.

I know the upper left arm is the best place to take a BP reading. However on page 45 of the review book it states that the right arm should be used "whenever possible for consistency." I'm curious about this and would like to hear additional input.

This is a little off topic but based on what we know, the left upper arm would be the correct choice. I am confused why the study review book states that the right arm should be used whenever possible for consistency (page 45). What am I missing?

    Hi

I am also confused about the left arm vs. right. The review book does say right as you stated. Can we get clarification?

    Thanks

OK Group, do not stress about this question. The premiere organizations are not in agreement which makes it a bad question. Here is why we keep updating the books and questions.

NIH suggests using the right arm for blood pressures because the pressures are more frequently higher in the right and you can pick up hypertension easier.

American Heart Association (2019) says that BOTH arms should be measured at the initial meeting and then use the arm with the higher reading for all subsequent visits.

I have found other sources that say to use the left arm if they are right handed, but I cannot find good references for that one.

Another said "either arm is ok as long as there is not a contraindication, such as mastectomy"
    Another said "BE CONSISTENT" -

So my recommendation is that this question be thrown out and updated to be clearer. So don't worry!
