  • 1.  Question: How long did each of you take to prepare for the exam?

    Posted 03-08-2024 10:43

I am planning on taking the exam sometime next year.   I have started reading the 3rd edition of School Nursing (Comprehensive Text), as well as the Review book.   I know that it probably ranges from person to person, but how long did you take to study and prepare for the exam before taking it? I am interested in what you have to say.

    Thanks,

    Tonya B.

I started studying along with this study group.  It started at the end of January.  So that was 7 weeks and then just studying on my own now until my test date arrives next week.

I started studying over winter break.  I used the study group here, the review book, flash cards, and practice tests.  I made a lot of flashcards on Quizlet and studied a lot with that.  I passed yesterday. Good Luck!

    Hi Tonya,

I had started studying a month prior to the study group, nothing too intense. I started reading the book over Christmas break and when I would have down time at work. The study group helped to be focused on what areas. Once the group started, I was studying a couple hours a day during the work week. If I had time on the weekends I would look at it as well. I tried to give myself some time off.
I also found the review course very helpful (including the book) as well as the practice tests.
    Hope that helps!
    good luck, Amy

I was about the same. I got the review book in October and started working through but got serious in January.

    Hi Kari,

I received the School Nursing Certification Review book by Janice Selekman & Robin Cogan and then the Nurse Builders Course Manuel (2nd Edition) NCSN Review Course: Preparing for Success by Janice Selekman with the recorded video that was 8 hours of review-that was great.

I also purchased the NBCSN review practice tests and those were helpful as well.

    Hope that helps!  Amy
