It is with deep sadness that NBCSN shares that Pat Krin passed away on July 7th. Pat recently retired as the Executive Director of NBCSN. Many of you knew Pat as the face of NBCSN as she was a passionate advocate for school nurses to advance their knowledge and profession through certification. Under her leadership, NBCSN grew and thrived, boasting 5000+ nationally certified school nurses. Pat was a visionary and possessed exceptional leadership skills. She served the school nurse community in various ways throughout her career.

For some, Pat was the reason they saw themselves getting involved in national conversations and advocacy related to school nursing. She was a frequent presenter at the NASN Annual Conference and served in many leadership roles with the CT Association of School Nurses and NASN. She greeted everyone with a smile and was always the first to offer a helping hand. For all, Pat will be missed as a colleague, friend, and mentor.

Pat was a wonderful woman and such an advocate for school nurses. I first met her at a national conference prior to becoming certified and her sincere interest in learning of other nurses' journeys and experiences was infectious. She kept in touch with me throughout my certification journey and beyond. I am sure many nurses will echo my memories. May she rest in peace.

Dear Sandy, Thank you so much for sharing about Pat. She has been so helpful to this discussion group for the past many years. It was with her support and intervention that I was able to take the exam in Tokyo. I will be eternally thankful for her organizational skills and encouragement for all of us. My sympathies to her family in the time of grief. Sincerely Nancy

So very sorry hearing this. Pat was always upbeat and encouraging every time I saw her at National Conferences over the years. It was quite obvious she loved school nursing, and being a significant respected part of advancing our practice. Pat will be sorely missed. Heartfelt condolences and prayers extended to her family, colleagues, and friends.

It wasn't easy to read that Mrs. Pat had passed, but what great joy it brings to have known such a wonderful person. I didn't get an opportunity to meet her in person, but her positive energy was felt in every email correspondence. Mrs. Pat made a massive impact on school nursing. Fly High, Mrs. Pat. Fly High!

Pat was a powerful inspiration to nurses. I cherish the time she spent as the director of NBCSN. I'm thankful for the advancements she made to nursing practice, specifically school nursing practice. Her humor and personality filled the room with compassion for others, passion for advancement of nursing profession, and achievement of personal goals. Her care, grace, and strength will be missed. Her spirit lives on in the nursing profession.

    Sandi -

Thank you so much for sharing this information.  I am so grateful for Pat's guidance while Arizona was working on the Arizona School Nurse Access Program.  I was lucky enough to learn from her during that process.  My sympathies to her family and those impacted by her.
