I've been a school nurse for 5 years. Started at a small school that had never had a school nurse and needed help with the COVID crisis. It was rough at the start, they didn't know what or how to deal with me and vice versa. The potential to impact this school was and is tremendous. Here it is, 5 years later, and I am still here. The joy I get from working with the staff, children and families is immense. I touch on almost every facet of nursing here at the school. This is my calling. Before this, I was semi-retired from nursing, but heeded the call for nurses during the COVID crisis. Taking this exam for the 2nd time. Pray for me! I really want this certification as my goal to show my families and colleagues how important and vital school nursing is.
