Whohoo!

I passed today with a 692!  I read the book, took the review practice tests in the book 3 times, purchased the online review course and watched it twice, and purchased and reviewed the flashcards three times.  And there were STILL questions that I had zero idea about and felt weren't covered.  Overall, I'm thrilled that I passed.  I didn't tell any of my coworkers I was taking it in case I failed.

Good luck to anyone who has yet to take the exam.

congratulations!! I heard that the test throws in some unweighted questions to see how we do with them, like the NCLEX did.  I know I had a question or two where I had no idea either so maybe that's why?

I passed yesterday. After the first 30 questions I wasn't feeling too confident. I think I flagged 5 total, but there were at least 15 that I knew I didn't know the answer. To prepare I listened to the lectures, I reviewed the book and bought the 2 practice tests and the Exam Edge tests. I do not recommend the Exam Edge tests, they are WAY more in depth. I meanily used them to practice doing a lot of questions in a row, I hate long tests, so doing their tests helped me prepare in that aspect.

    Hi Carol,

This is my 11th school year as a school nurse but I've been a nurse for 28 years.

I have always worked in a middle school but I'm the lead nurse for our district so I am involved a bit in all age groups. I thought the test was unnecessarily difficult.  Some questions I knew right off the bat and those were straightforward. Some questions seemed to be worded intentionally to confuse you.  I didn't feel confident at all.  I'm glad I took I took the test virtually so I could relax more in my own home rather than stressing out in a testing facility.

I agree about the Exam Edge tests. The questions and content of those tests contained a lot of ER/Triage type questions, psychiatric emergencies  - way more than is on the actual test. My impression of those exams is that they reflected a stereotype of what others think nurses do.  Snake bite first aide----really???. Additionally, the Exam Edge test contain a lot of "double negative" type questions - which has long been shown to not be a reliable indicator of competence  - especially for English as a second language nurses. But I did all of them to challenge myself because they were longer (100 questions each) and I just wanted practice so that could determine my test taking errors and make adjustments. I discovered that I was spending too little time on each question and around question 65 I would lose concentration and start skipping over words.  The 200 question NBCSN exam is just as much a test of endurance as it is knowledge.

I just passed on Friday with a 692 as well.  I went to the review with Janice Selekman and used her study guide/book as well to study with.   I flagged 23 questions and probably didn't know at least 20 more that I knew I did not know so just aswered then and there.  I felt very confident going in, but there was still a lot I was not sure on.

Yes, you get an unofficial Pass or No Pass immediately after you submit the test, and then they send you an official Pass email within 24hours.
