We are looking at more clearly defining acuity as it relates to school nursing. Currently state legislation requires the following headers in OR.
- Medically Complex
- Nursing Dependent
- Medically Fragile
We have some leeway with the definitions but must keep the headings until at least the next legislative session. I am hopeful that our school nurse colleagues in other states can share how they define their populations as it relates to determining recommended ratios of school nurses to students to help us with more clearly defining what these categories mean?
