    Hi all,
I'm taking the exam at the end of the month. I'm a bit nervous!
My question is do you think there will be any questions about CoVid-19 on the test? Or questions relating to infection control relating to CoVid 19?
Also, in reviewing Chapter 7, I was wondering about the more current issue of vaping?

In most recent exams, do they dip into current events?
Thank you for all your help!
    Sincerely,

There will be no questions about Covid-19 on the exam.  The exams for a full year are put together in November of the prior year, so that was before we ever heard of Covid-19.  That doesn't mean that there won't be questions about flu or infection control. As I said in a previous email, those of us who respond to this discussion list have no idea what questions are on the exam. None of us are currently involved in Test Development. If we were we could not participate in this list.

If you have not looked at the handbook, I encourage you to do so.

https://www.nbcsn.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/nbcsn-handbook-2020-v1-2-2020.pdf. It has what is called the test blueprint starting on page 12. It will give you an idea of the types of information school nurses are expected to know.

When you ask about Chapter 7, I am not clear if you mean Chapter 7 of the Certification Review Book. If so, remember that that book is 10 years old and vaping was not the problem that it is today. I can't say that there will or will not be questions about vaping on the exam, but you should be familiar with the information.

    Stay well.

    Regards,

Thank you for the quick response. I was referring the Chapter 7 in the review book. It has been really helpful although I do understand that it is 10 years old. I just received the comprehensive text yesterday and I will be going back and forth between resources this month in preparation.
Thank you for the reminder about the handbook. I peeked at it initially and then printed it out but I need to go over it more thoroughly. With all the reopening meetings and documents related to that undertaking I forgot about the handbook!
Thank you for your help again!

Did you receive the school nursing comprehensive text (I have edition 3 from our school, been going back and forth also).  I have the old review book and bought the exam edge 5 tests , and the 500 questions (not worth it) and the two nbcsn tests (those are good and related). I still am only averaging 75%, which I guess passes, but that is too low to go into exam confident!  But remember some level of anxiety is good!

I am having a hard time finding the test taking tips on the nursebuilders.net site after selecting certification.  If someone would copy/paste the link that would be great.

Interesting there is an 7 hour course, by Janice Selekeman, that will be available for purchase after September 1st, 2020 for a review for the certification exam:  ers.net/nationally-certified-school-nurse-review-course/.  Might help those for the fall window.
