  • 1.  Attempt 2 Unsuccessful

I took this exam for a 2nd time yesterday and unfortunately was unsuccessful yet again. I felt more prepared going into the exam this time but yet when the questions made me feel like I did not prepare at all. I do have test anxiety and took all the courses and reviewed the strategies numerous times. This is a very tough exam and I am deciding is it worth trying again. The testing site is one that I do not want to use again. The door kept opening as they would let more people in to start their test. It was a small room with 6 computers. This was a huge distraction, and then one of the people taking the test was coughing non stop. So in this small room where we were pretty close have the door open and close and then coughing, lets say test anxiety was setting in. So the testing site was a huge disappointment. The first place where I tested was great but was not a choice this time.

I think the hardest part for me  is to realize this does not define the great school nurse I am. I love my job and have been a school nurse for 17 years. Being NBCSN has been a goal, luckily it is not needed for my role in my state. So do I try for attempt #3 and if I do is there a specific time frame I should try and do it?

Congrats to you all who have been successful- Way to go!!!

Dawn, I am so glad you are going to try again. Give yourself a little time, to prepare yes, but also to prepare your mind. See if you can figure out why you are anxious. If you send me your score reports I can look at them and compare them for you.
If you want to send your score reports you can send them to nbcsnexec@nbcsn.org

    Dawn,

    Like you I have taken
the test 3 times. Failed every time. This was a personal goal for me as well. However I came to the conclusion that passing the test didn't make me a better school nurse.

I have test anxiety as well. I realize that testing our knowledge base is was what is being tested. I feel in my opinion that the test is getting more complicated and not staying to what school nurse do daily.

For me have spent so much money that I can't afford to take it again.

Congratulations to everyone who passed.  So proud of all of you.

Dawn- I know it is frustrating you did not pass. I do wish you the best on your future attempts. And you are right- this test does not define you! 17 years as a school nurse is an awesome accomplishmen! :)

Hi Dawn, I am in your area I believe and am nervous about the testing site now! Are you able to share which location you went to to test?
