I was taking a practice test when I came across an answer that had me stumped. The answer claims that iron is more important than phosphorus for the bone development answer claims that iron is more important than phosphorus for bone development in adolescence. Is this true? I would have thought it was phosphorus.

If it was a NBCSN practice test, let me know which test and which question number and we will check it out.

Hi Pat, I take my exam today. I'm assuming the calcium, vit d, and iron answer is correct since I didn't hear back. Fingers crossed!

Kathleen, the questions on the exam are not the same as the practice test. Sorry, I have had some health problems but will check on it both for you and the practice test.

Pat, what was your eventual answer to Kathleen's question?  Others would like to understand.

And I hope your health concerns have been resolved!  You are PRECIOUS to us all!

Bea, thanks for reminding me. I apologize, this just slipped my mind. I just checked the practice exam, and I am showing that the answer to the question about bone nutrients lacking in adolescence is calcium, iron, and vitamin D. There is an answer that includes phosphorous, but that is an incorrect choice.

    Regards,

    Good morning,

I wondered if you could share the rationale for the answer being: Calcium; iron and Vit D.  I too got the answer wrong. When I look in the "School Nursing: A Comprehensive Text" on page 206 second paragraph under bone growth, it states that Calcium, Phosphorus and Vitamin D are crucial components to bone growth. I read nothing regarding iron. Could you please advise?

    Thank you,

    Allison

OK folks, I finally had a chance to check on the Practice Test #1 question 26.

The correct answer is (drum roll please) Calcium, phosphate, and Vitamin D. The test has been corrected (no pun intended). The reference is page 206 in Selekman, Shannon, & Yonkaitis School Nursing a Comprehensive Text.

    Warm regards,

Pat, could you check on one more question in the NBCSN practice test? There is one about a dog bite, and the rationale contradicted the answer. I'm afraid to give more detail.  I don't want to violate any disclosures. My test is Tuesday, so I am studying hard.   Thanks!
