For those who have taken the exam, does your employer cover the cost or are you paying the registration yourself?

    Just curious.

Congratulations to all who have recently passed and best of luck to those taking it soon.

I work in Chicago and paid my own way for everything. Test preps practice tests testing fee. We then receive an annual 2k every school year.

    What about you!?

We pay on our own for everything as well.

In my district, we do not receive an additional stipend.

NBCSN has a Certification Justification Toolkit available to help plead your case for exam payment and or a stipend. Doesn’t MA accept certification in lieu of a Masters degree?

Thank you for the information Pat. I was more curious if districts cover testing costs or if one is given an educational allowance for it.

You are correct about the certification and master's degree. One is actually required by the State Department of Education within 5 or 10 years with a waiver after the initial education license is obtained. This is in addition to our state nursing license.

We are finding that a number of states are paying for nurses to take the test. Vermont is doing it right now, Mississippi is giving a large stipend for National  Certification. Arizona is working on its 2nd group. MO is also setting up for tests I believe.

    Hi,

My school paid for everything the 1st time I took it. I'm now too afraid & embarrassed to ask for any assistance again, especially now having to go for a 3rd time!!

    Good morning,

Unfortunately, our district does not reimburse, render a stipend nor any incentives for being Nationally Certified.

My county will reimburse once exam is passed! They also reimburse for any materials purchased up to $600! I just took it last Saturday and passed🎉. Good luck to those still awaiting exam!

I am employed by the health department. They purchased the review book which can be shared among the nurses. If you pass the test they will reimburse you the fee. I will also get 1k per year for being certified.
