Are immunizations primary or secondary prevention?
I have two textbooks that are contradicting. They are both older versions.

    Hello,
I'm Currently doing the E-course that is wonderful with Janice Selkman.  Immunizations are Primary for immunizations. Unless said differently in other nursing content.

I have always considered immunizations primary prevention. The prevention of disease.
    Secondary prevention is early detection.
    This may help

I always think Primary is how do we keep ourselves safe and protected. That would be immunizations, educating on bike safety, etc. Secondary, think Screenings (breast exam, physical) and if you have for example, asthma how can we avoid flare-ups (avoid the irritant) or treating high blood pressure with medication.

    Hope that helps!

Thank you Robin. It is always helpful to share different ways of thinking about or remembering topics.
