Dr. Erin D. Maughan serves as the Director of Research for the National Association of School Nurses (NASN), where she co-leads the development of school nurse outcome indicators and uniform data points. She launched NASN’s acuity workload taskforce, and co-led the creation of NASN’s Framework for 21st Century School Nursing PracticeTM. She also teaches public health nursing as an adjunct associate professor at Georgetown University. Prior to joining NASN, Dr. Maughan was full-time nursing faculty in the College of Nursing at Brigham Young University, where she taught global health and the public health/community nursing; studied issues related to school nurse staffing; and served as Coordinator of International Affairs for the College. Dr. Maughan has also worked for the Utah Department of Health as the State School Nurse Consultant; and also served as a district a school nurse. Dr Maughan is also a Fellow in the National Academy of School Nurses and American Academy of Nursing. Dr. Maughan is passionate about addressing the needs of vulnerable populations through research and improving children’s health around the world. She is originally from New Hampshire.
