Bio

Dr. Erin D. Maughan is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at George Mason and serves as CEO for an independent Center for School Health Innovation and Quality. She has over 20 years of experience working as a school nurse, state school nurse consultant, school nurse educator/research and former Director of Research for the National Association of School Nurses (NASN). Her focus is advancing the profession of school nursing through data and development of school nurse outcome indicators. Dr Maughan has consulted with the World Health Organization's office in Sierra Leone on developing a school health program, and has served on several WHO (headquarter) workgroups related to school health. She is a Fellow in the National Academy of School Nurses and American Academy of Nursing. Dr. Maughan is passionate about addressing the needs of vulnerable populations through research and improving children’s health around the world. She is originally from New Hampshire.
