Bio

Lou Ann Gleason, MSN RN, is a recently retired School Nurse/ Nursing Supervisor from South Jefferson Central School District. She became a school nurse in 2004 after earning her ASN Degree as a part time student at Excelsior College while working full time as a School LPN for twelve years. She continued her education and earned her BSN in 2011 and her MSN with a specialty in Nursing Education in 2015. She has worked in the elementary, middle, and high school and was the District Nursing Supervisor from 2012 - 2024.

She received the NYSASN Excellence in School Nursing Award in 2012. She received the Judith Harrigan Founder's Award in 2021. She served on the District Health and Wellness Committee. She served on the NYSED Collective Care Team/ Student Services Team from 2019-2023 and on the NYSED Task Force for School Re-entry Post COVID and the NYS BOCES Task Force for planning the Return to School Post COVID from 2020-2022.

Lou Ann was the NYS Association of School Nurses (NYSASN) Zone 9 Representative 2012-2017, Chairperson of the 2016 NYSASN Spring Symposium, NYSASN Education Chair 2016-2018, NYSASN President Elect 2018-2019, NYSASN President 2019-2020, NYSASN Past President 2020-2021, and is currently the NASN NY Director. She is a member of NASN and Sigma Theta Tau, NYSASN School Nurse Orientation Faculty, and a member of the Northern NY Chapter of the Nurse Honor Guard. She is serving on the Excelsior University School of Nursing Advisory Board.
