    Hi

I hope you all had a safe trip home and are able to get some rest.  It was so good to meet those of you who were able to attend the NASN Discussion Monitors meeting at the NASN conference in June. I think we should plan to meet at every conference for 30 minutes or more if needed, but this will certainly not be a requirement to be a monitor. I see SNN as one of NASN’s greatest values. So many school nurses are practice in isolation and SNN is a great way to connect with peers and get the support and needed advice.

At our first ever meeting (I think) the group discussed/decided the following:

    • Sheila Caldwell and Gail Trano are going to look at the libraries of All Members, SCHLRN and PPSN to clean them up. They will look at setting up a few standardized folders for appropriate communities. Not all libraries will have the same folders.
    • Monitors will send quarterly reminders of SNN Code of Conduct. Monitors will receive a schedule and a cut and paste of reminders to send to members.
    • A phone conference will be scheduled for monitors in January. A “Doodle Calendar” will be sent to all monitors in December to determine best date and time.
    • The PPSN committee plans to do an awareness campaign activity to increase membership.
    • There are additional discussion monitors through the SNN affiliates. We are going to work to include this group into our discussion monitors.
    • There was discussion about coordinating the same conversations in different communities on the same topic. Sharon advised us that the software does not allow us to do this at this time.
    • Tip from SNN session. Internet Explorer does not work well with SNN.
    • Valuable Tools:

Fell free to use this community to share any ideas that will make SNN better.

If there is something I missed, please let me know. I look forward to working with all of you. Thank you for your support of these valuable communities.

    Sue
