I am a nationally certified school nurse and just recently retired after working in the Dumont Public Schools for 21+ years where I served in a PK - grade 8 school, as well as serving as the district nurse coordinator. My 39 year career encompasses a variety of hospital-based positions in medical surgical and pediatric settings. I have experience as a nursing supervisor, manager and nursing educator. I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Boston College in 1985, a Master of Science in School Nursing from Monmouth University in 2008 and a post-graduate certificate in Forensic Nursing from Monmouth University in 2014. I am a Johnson & Johnson School Health Leadership Fellow. I continue to serve on the executive board of the Bergen County School Nurse Association. I have served on the executive board of the New Jersey State School Nurses Association in various capacities (president, treasurer, secretary, legislation chair and on most standing committees) since 2011 and continue to serve as a committee member.
I believe that the health of our youth reflects the health of our society and that every child deserves a school nurse. I feel it is important that school nurses promote school and community wellness and deliver high-quality, evidenced-based care in the school setting.
