    Good Morning,

    I was wondering if anyone else received their results yesterday?  I thought Pat had said we would all get our individual scores for the exam on Monday, April 29th.  Congratulations to all that have passed!

    Thanks,

    The emails should have come out from Prometric yesterday. That is the official notification.

    I have received nothing from Prometric. Not feeling very confident in this testing company.

    Yes, I received my results yesterday.
    Passed. The test itself had a lot of questions that really did not represent school nursing.

    I did receive an email yesterday with my results.  Feeling a lot more confident about telling others that I passed.

    Hi Pat,

    I did not receive my official score report yesterday.  I did see that I passed on the Prometric website, but wanted to let you know that Prometric did not send results yesterday.

    Thank you,

    Sandy Sorenson, RN, BSN

    Here are my frustrations with this entire process.

    March 8th - I took my exam. At that time I did not expect to get results until around the first part of May.
    March 9th - I received an email from NBCSN stating I had passed the exam.
    March 11th - I  found out via this forum, to disregard these scores.There was nothing sent official from NBCSN that stated to disregard the email about passing the exam.
    March 11th - I was able to log onto the NBCSN website and saw that I had a plan for re-certification and at that time could print my official certificate.
    March 19th - I received an email from NBCSN wishing me a Happy Certified Nurses Day.
    March 21st -  I that received and official email from NBCSN  stating to disregard my original 3/9 email saying I passed .   This is almost two weeks after the original email.
    Mid April - logged into NBSCN website.  I still have a re-certification plan, but now unable to print certificate.
    April 26th - Found out through this forum, that I could log into Prometrics and see if I passed but top expect an official email on April 29th.  Logged onto Prometrics and It says I passed.  I printed my results page.
    As of this posting - I have not receive anything from NCBSN or Prometrics officially stating I passed the exam and have become an NCSN.

    My main issue is that most of the information has come through this forum and not from NBCSN. If a candidate doesn't not know about nor has signed up for this discussion group, they would not have any way of knowing what is happening.

    I did not receive an email either.  NBCSN learning builder still says "awaiting results".  Prometrics site says I passed.

    Hello Everyone,
    I received the email yesterday that I passed, which confirmed what was on the Prometrics site when I looked up my score, so that was a huge relief.  For those still waiting, hang in there- thinking good thoughts for all of you.  I hope this whole roller coaster situation can be corrected before the next testing window.   I would hate for another group to go through this.
    Take care everyone!

    To Jennifer et al.

    Please accept my apologies for all the confusion.

    I confirmed that the official score reports were sent out from Prometric yesterday 4/29/19.  If you did not receive one please contact info@nbcsn.org .  Only by contacting the office can we check on your concerns.  This forum, while helpful, was not meant to be a substitute for contact with NBCSN through regular challenges.

    I can give you an explanation of the recent difficulties, it does not change anyone's anxiety or frustration.  Because the original contact from a candidate stating they had passed the exam prior to the exam having gone through complete scoring came through this forum we have tried to keep members of this forum apprised of what is going on. NBCSN did send emails out to the 27 people who were impacted by having received a score report within 24 – 48 hours I believe.  I don't know why you would not have received it.

    So here is the explanation. It is  long.

    Between mid June and mid July NBCSN moved from one management company to another.  We also changed our application software vendor.  The new vendor had many options available to us, one of which was an automated congratulations email which would go out after NBCSN received the score report from Prometric. We thought that was a really nice idea.

    Here is a list of cascading events that caused the current problems.  The spring test window was the first window that was impacted by this.:

    • Prometric electronically sent NBCSN the fall score reports, but did not close the "switch" that sends out the reports;
    • NBCSN sent out the fall congratulations letters manually and the software company configured the automation for the spring window;
    • Once the automation was configured the letters were scheduled to go out once the score reports came in;
    • As exams were taken each exam result  is posted as a Pass until the Problem Item Analysis (PIA)Call takes place to post-equate the exam;
    • Because the "switch" had not been closed on the Prometric end, those exam results came through to NBCSN which triggered the automation;
    • Since someone had posted on this forum that they had received their exam scores we were able to stop those automations at 27 test takers who took the exam between March 7 and 8;
    • Our management company sent out emails explaining the situation to those 27 test takers notifying them to ignore the previous email they received;
    • When we learned that the official scores would be sent out on 4/29, we asked the software company to set the automations up for Monday 4/29;
    • Unfortunately, the erroneous report was still in the system and triggered the automation,
    • This group actually included test takers from March 7-12, and another email was sent out from the management company.
    • NBCSN, AH our management company, Prometric, and Heuristic Solutions, our software company are currently working to make sure nothing like this happens again.

    While trying to provide great customer service, we have discovered that not everything works the way we hope it will, and unfortunately this group of test takers were caught in a landslide of problems.

    We will work hard to regain your trust, and are working hard towards making this a less stressful process.  Applicants who passed the exam should be hearing from NBCSN within the next week.  We will be entering the score reports on our end and communications will come out to you.

    Regards,

    Pat

    So, I am one of the sad souls who thought they passed but found out last night that I had not. Yes, I had already told all of my family and my co-workers and even submitted my certificate to HR which was still available to me on the NBCSN site stating I had passed as of yesterday. Now it says results are pending so I can't even register for the next test window. So frustrating. I called to ask about all of the confusion, left a message 2 days ago and did not get a call back. I emailed Pat Krin 3 days ago and got no reply. From what I have heard, this same situation or something similar happened in one of the last testing windows as well. What is going on? I understand that I did not pass, it was a tough exam. However, I do think there is more that could be done for those of us who were told the wrong information. I think that Prometrics should own up to the error and not simply apologize but allow us to retest at no cost. This is not a small error. We are school nurses who work very hard every day. I was hoping to not have to spend my down time (not that I have any) studying again for this exam but I will and will hope to pass and not have to deal with this incredibly unfortunate, error filled process again.

    So those who have tested and passed...What methods did you use? Did you take an online class? What information can you share to those who still have to test to focus our studies in the right direction.

    Amanda,

    I took a 2 day School Nurse Certification Review course at Wake Forest and it was very helpful.  I also used the small blue School Nurse Certification Review book and took the practice tests on the NBCSN site.  I hope this helps!

    I used the NCSN guidance documents and practice tests to give me an idea of what was on the test.  The practice tests do cost money, so there is that.

    Hi Amanda,

    I used an app on my phone called NCSN review, which gives you about 900 test questions.  I also purchased both online sample tests through NBCSN website.  I studied the School Nursing Certification Review by Sekelman and made flash cards.  Good luck!

    I also used the app and found it to be super helpful as I didn't have to bring anything extra I already wouldn't have with me when I was going places.  I could do test questions while in the waiting room at the dentist, while waiting for meetings to start, etc....
    I used the Sekelman review book also, taking each practice quiz at the end of each chapter.
